Joan Robinson 31 Ekini 1903 tarihinde Surrey'de doğdu. St.Pauls Girls School'da ve Cambridge Girton Kolejinde okudu. 1925 de Cambridge Universitesi iktisat bolumunu bitirdi. 1931 yılında Universiteye asistan olarak girdi. 1965 de Caınbridge'de iktisat profesoru oldu. Bircok kitap yayınladı. Economics of Imperfect Competitiort (1933), Essays in the Theory of Employment (1937), Introduction to the Thcory of Employment (1937). Essays on Marxian Economics (1942), Beş cilt olarak Collected Economic Papers (1980) , The Rate of Interest and Other Essays (1952), The Accumulation of Capital (1956),Essays in the Theory of Economic Growth (1963). Ayrıca ekonomi dergilerinde bircok makaleleri yayınlandı. En son yayınları ise şunlardır: Economics: An Awkward Corner (1966) ve Freedom and Necessity: An Introduction to the Study of Society (1970) . Joan Robinson Cambridge'de iktisat profesoru olan Austin Robinson ile evli idi. İki kız cocuğu bulunan Joan Robinson 1983 yılında 80 yaşında iken oldu.
