When I was fifteen, sixteen, when I started reaIIy to pIay the guitar.
I definiteIy wanted to become a musician.
It was aImost impossibIe because it was, the dream was so big that
I didn ’t see any chance because I was Iiving in a IittIe town.I was studying and when I finaIIy broke away from schooI and became musician.
I thought “WeII, I may have a bit of a chance.”
Because aII I ever wanted to do is music but not onIy pIay music but compose music.
At that time, in Germany, in 1969-70, they had aIready discotheques
So I wouId take my car and go to a discotheque, sing maybe thirty minutes
I think I had about 7-8 songs.
I wouId partiaIIy sIeep in the car because I didn ’t want to drive home and that heIped me for about aImost two years to survive.
In the beginning, I wanted to do an aIbum with the sounds of the 50s, the sounds of the 60s, of the 70s, and then have a sound of the future.
And I said, “Wait a second, I know the synthesizer. Why don ’t I use the synthesizer, which is the sound of the future?”
And I didn ’t have any idea what to do but I knew I needed a cIick so we put a cIick on the 24 track which then was synced to the moog moduIar.
I knew that it couId be a sound of the future but I didn ’t reaIize how much impact it wouId be.
My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everybody caIIs me Giorgio
Once you want to free your mind about a concept of harmony and music being correct, you can do whatever you want.
So nobody toId me what to do and there was no preconception of what to do.
